life is like a piece of theatre...

My name is Giedrė Antanavičiūtė, I am a first year student in Theatre course, at University of Chichester. My native country is Lithuania, which is in Northern Europe and has an entrance to the Baltic Sea.

In the past few months I learnt that a lot of people I met in UK are not sure where my country is. Although Lithuania is a tiny country in comparison with the UK and actually most of the other European countries, it is still worth knowing its brave history and visit it’s magnificent scenery.

A short introduction about me. I was a believer as long as I could remember, a big one, and I’m sure it is our dreams which make us strong enough to succeed.

Although I cannot remember the exact time when I knew what I wanted to do in life, I am pretty sure I was approximately 13 or 14 years old...

I fell in love with theatre so quickly. It wasn‘t fame, auditory or applauses that attracted me. It was the smell of old plays, the secret of red curtains, the deepness of the dark just before the show. For me theatre is all this magic that a single person can make; all lines of words that gain sense after they are said; those short moments of complete silence when even dust stop dancing for a moment under the light of old illuminator. That‘s the theatre I imagine, that‘s the theatre I want to be a part of.

Is it just me or it is a little bit strange that somehow theatre describes me? I am still figuring out who I am, but when I look back I can see that my life is like a piece of theatre...
